As consumers spend more of their time shopping online rather than in-store, AI provides opportunities or retailers to craft an enhanced customer experience and a seamless customer journey across platforms and touchpoints. Conversational AI, personalized product and content recommendations, shopping assistants and omnichannel experiences promise increased value to customers. Despite these advancements, building and implementing AI software in e-commerce is wrought with difficulty. This panel will gather e-commerce leaders to discuss the latest and greatest trends and use cases for AI in e-commerce.

Currently at Nylas, lead the adoption and expansion of innovative applied AI use cases in key sectors such as retail/e-commerce that drive enterprise digital transformation. Beforehand at Google Cloud managed the commercialization of emerging AI algorithms and AI services for enterprise adoption. Prior at Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, worked on the consumer digital transformation era for the My Disney Experience application, driving personalization and customer experience across retail, food & beverage, lodging and attractions.

Head of Platform Products & Ecosystems Innovation, Kroger

Sanjiv Karani serves as Head of Kroger’s Platform Products & Ecosystem Innovation. This area represents over 30 product-led teams across: Search, Monetization, APIs, Application Platforms, Behavior Data Analytics, Test & Learn, Design Systems, and Identity; all supporting Kroger’s seamless ecosystem. Sanjiv and his team are catalyzing Kroger's transformation into a Digital (Platform) Business, having driven $4.7B+ value creation in 2021. Prior to joining Kroger, Sanjiv has held leadership roles in Product Management, Strategy, and Innovation for JPMorgan Chase & Co., TEMPOE-CNG Corp, ZipScene, Cincom Systems, PointRoll-Gannett Corporation, and Convergys. Sanjiv also has a stellar track record of entrepreneurship across Startups (CXO roles at other startups as well as his own startup VALCRIN), Academia (Executive Professor at Xavier University), and Incubators (Strategic Advisor/Board roles at Stanford Seed, Cintrifuse, OCEAN, Frost & Sullivan, American Marketing Association, Edison Universe, and more). Sanjiv holds an MBA in Finance, Strategy, and Economics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, as well as a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with major in Computer Vision/AI from Wright State University. He has also participated in executive programs at Stanford, Harvard Business School, Kellogg, and MIT Sloan

His previous roles included Endeca, Cognos, Hummingbird Communications, and Pure Data. Prior to his career in software, Roland was a member in the Royal Canadian Armored Corps.
